Activity

When setting up a space the selected “activity” defines the rate at which air-borne particles are expelled by the individuals in the space.

The quantity of expelled particles varies significantly depending on the activity individuals in the space are engaged in. For example, an individual who is standing and loudly speaking emits 15 times more particles compared to an individual who is just standing. Particle exposure is directly proportionate to the risk of an infection,  15 times the particles, 15 times the risk.

The chart below depicts the relative particle emission rates associated with activities available for selection.
